A new paper reviewing the role that neuroestrogens play in brain and cognitive aging was published in Hormones & Behavior as part of a special issue, “Menopause and the Brain”. New Lab Publication in Journal of Neuroendocrinology
Congratulations to Research Assistant Professor Dr. Mat Maroteaux on his work elucidating the role of neuroestrogens in hippocampal LTP. The work describes results of a collaborative project with Dr. Laura Schrader. A PDF copy of the paper can be accessed on our Publications page.

Another SfN meeting in the books for the Daniel Lab! The four Projects from the NIH Program Project Grant, Estrogens, Cardiometabolic Health and Female Cognitive Aging, presented posters together. Dr. Mat Maroteaux presented our Project 1 poster. We ended the meeting with our traditional SfN Daniel Lab dinner.

Daniel Lab receives a 5-year $2.69 million NIH R01 grant!
Dr. Daniel received a $2.69 million NIH R01 grant from the National Institute on Aging that will fund Years 11-15 of the research project entitled, Short-term Estradiol Use in Middle-Age: Implications for Female Cognitive Aging. See here for details.
The Daniel Lab has moved to beautiful new Tulane Brain Institute facilities in the recently opened Steven and Jann Paul Hall for Science and Engineering!

Dr. Christian Montanari, Research Assistant Professor in the lab, got to present his data from the Program Project Grant to Dr. Vicky Luine, a pioneer in the field of estrogens, memory and the brain. We ended the day with a fun dinner with friends and colleagues!
